The design project concerned an area of particular historical value due to the existing modernist villa “Nina”, as the building at 6 Daszyńskiego Street was originally called, which was built between 1933 and 1935. From the beginning, the villa was owned by the Municipal Savings Bank of Inowrocław, and it was not until the 1960s that it was taken over by the Polish Ocean Lines company. At that time, a second building was added to the existing structure and connected by a passageway, thus creating the famous “Fregata” sanatorium. Our goal was to preserve the historical character of the buildings, so the project was consulted and agreed upon with the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Provincial Conservator of Monuments on an ongoing basis. The end result is an intimate complex of buildings with details, scale, and character that match the historical surroundings. The scrafitto, entered in the register of monuments, has become an integral part of the newly designed connecting passage and a kind of showcase for the investment.
