The concept of a multifunctional building on Gdynia Boulevard. The architecture of the designed building fits in with the maritime character of the city of Gdynia – a simple, modernist façade in light colors (white, light wood, gray stone elements) with a large amount of glazing. In the designed facility, great importance is attached to the needs related to the functioning of the rescue unit – a room for observing the beach has been designated on the first floor, and a medical point has been designated on the ground floor, directly from the boulevard and the beach (rescuers have approx. 300-400 interventions per season – cuts, fractures, etc.). In accordance with the guidelines, a changing room for women and men with showers has been designed, which is used by lifeguards in the summer season and by winter swimmers in the winter season. A complementary function is catering – a café with a bar – on the ground floor, a bar counter is planned, along with a small storage area (shared with lifeguards/water ski lift staff) and staff facilities, as well as a toilet available to guests. A small observation deck and a dining room are planned for the first floor. This combination of functions will ensure that the facility can be used all year round.
